We are a mother and daughter team. We are both local to Taylorsville, North Carolina. Rita is married with two kids and four grandkids (two of which arrived just in the last few months). Although "Gigi" is her favorite title, she is also a CPA for a local Oncology practice. Rachel is married with two little boys, a toddler and infant. She has a history in sales, customer service and marketing but is currently a stay at home mom in addition to running Light Shine Co. We came together and decided to use our passion for family, faith and fashion and turn it into a business as well as finding affordable, functional and staple pieces for your closet.

Rita's goal is to find pieces that are both comfortable for the weekends as well as pieces that are business casual and interchangeable no matter the occasion or season. She loves being able to wear the same piece several different ways. Rachel's goal is to find pieces that are flattering for young moms as well as comfortable and fashionable, allowing you to feel confident in your own skin. We wanted to build a brand that reflects this current season of life that we are both in.

We also wanted to carry a section of Christian Gift Shop items. Faith is a huge part of our everyday lives and we want that to reflect in our business as well. Rita has worked at several local churches as well as led various bible studies while also being a counselor at her local Pregnancy Care Center (one of our nonprofit partners). Rachel was a previous area group leader for a ministry called Moms in the Making which is a faith based infertility support nonprofit that also provides support and encouragement through miscarriage and loss as well.

A huge piece of our business and why we do what we do is our donation aspect. We are both heavily connected in our community and with several nonprofits. We want our business to be bold, stand out, and to spread the light of Jesus. A portion of every sale will be made to the nonprofit of YOUR choice. This allows our business to help others and is a way for us to give back what God has given us. Psalm 116: 12-13 says: "What will I give to the Lord (in return) for all his blessings towards me? How can I repay him for his precious blessings? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord."

This is where the name comes into play Light Shine Co. from the verse in John that says "Let your light so shine, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." All glory and success will always go to him, which is who encouraged us to start this business in the first place, as well as gave us the name. We can't wait to see what he does through this business and ultimately, to be a light to others and glorify him.
